Gene Full Name:actin filament associated protein 1
Gene Infomation:The protein encoded by this gene is a Src binding partner. It may represent a potential modulator of actin filament integrity in response to cellular signals, and may function as an adaptor protein by linking Src family members and/or other signaling proteins to actin filaments. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
Antigen:Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 461-730 of human AFAP1 (NP_940997.1).
Antigen Synonyms:Actin filament-associated protein 1

Tissue specificity:Low expression in normal breast epithelial cell line MCF-10A and in tumorigenic breast cancer cell lines MCF-7, T-47D and ZR-75-1. Highly expressed in the invasive breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB-231 and MDA-MB-435. Overexpressed in prostate carcinoma.
Storage:Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.
Buffer condition:PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol, pH7.3.
Background:
Molar Function:Can cross-link actin filaments into both network and bundle structures . May modulate changes in actin filament integrity and induce lamellipodia formation. May function as an adapter molecule that links other proteins, such as SRC and PKC to the actin cytoskeleton. Seems to play a role in the development and progression of prostate adenocarcinoma by regulating cell-matrix adhesions and migration in the cancer cells.
Western Blot:Stability: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
Storage: Store at 4°C for frequent use. Stored at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer for one year without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Notes: For In vitro laboratory use only. Not for any clinical, therapeutic, or diagnostic use in humans or animals. Not for animal or human consumption.
