Gene Full Name:lysozyme like 6

Gene Infomation:This gene encodes a member of the C-type lysozyme/alpha-lactalbumin family. C-type lysozymes are bacteriolytic factors that play a role in host defense, whereas alpha-lactalbumins mediate lactose biosynthesis. The encoded protein contains catalytic residues characteristic of C-type lysozymes and may play a role in male reproduction. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2011]

Antigen:Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 20-148 of human LYZL6 (NP_065159.1).

Antigen Synonyms:Lysozyme-like protein 6

Clonality:Polyclonal antibody

Tissue specificity:Expressed in testis, epididymis and spermatozoa (at protein level) (PubMed:16014814, PubMed:28182716). Expressed in late-stage spermatocytes and round spermatids (PubMed:28182716).

Storage:Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.

Buffer condition:PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol, pH7.3.

Background:

Molar Function:May be involved sperm-egg plasma membrane adhesion and fusion during fertilization (PubMed:28182716). Exhibits bacteriolytic activity in vitro against Micrococcus luteus and Staphylococcus aureus (PubMed:28182716, PubMed:24013621). Shows weak bacteriolytic activity against Gram-positive bacteria at physiological pH (PubMed:28182716). Bacteriolytic activity is pH-dependent, with a maximum at around pH 5.6 (PubMed:28182716).

Western Blot:

Stability: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Storage: Store at 4°C for frequent use. Stored at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer for one year without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Notes: For In vitro laboratory use only. Not for any clinical, therapeutic, or diagnostic use in humans or animals. Not for animal or human consumption.
