Gene Full Name:SET binding factor 1
Gene Infomation:This gene encodes a member of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase family. However, the encoded protein does not appear to be a catalytically active phosphatase because it lacks several amino acids in the catalytic pocket. This protein contains a Guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) domain which is necessary for its role in growth and differentiation. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease 4B3. Pseudogenes of this gene have been defined on chromosomes 1 and 8. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2014]
Antigen:Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1630-1770 of human SBF1 (NP_002963.2).

Storage:Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.
Buffer condition:PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol, pH7.3.
Background:
Molar Function:Probable pseudophosphatase. Lacks several amino acids in the catalytic pocket which renders it catalytically inactive as a phosphatase. The pocket is however sufficiently preserved to bind phosphorylated substrates, and maybe protect them from phosphatases. Inhibits myoblast differentiation in vitro and induces oncogenic transformation in fibroblasts. According to PubMed:20937701, may function as a guanine nucleotide exchange factor (GEF) activating RAB28. Promotes the exchange of GDP to GTP, converting inactive GDP-bound Rab proteins into their active GTP-bound form.
Western Blot:Stability: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.
Storage: Store at 4°C for frequent use. Stored at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer for one year without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Notes: For In vitro laboratory use only. Not for any clinical, therapeutic, or diagnostic use in humans or animals. Not for animal or human consumption.
