Gene Infomation:The product of this gene is a mitogen induced GTPase activating protein (GAP). It exhibits a specific GAP activity for Ras-related regulatory proteins Rap1 and Rap2, but not for Ran or other small GTPases. This protein may also hamper mitogen-induced cell cycle progression when abnormally or prematurely expressed. It is localized to the perinuclear region. Tissue specificity:Expressed in fetal as well as in adult tissues. Expressed abundantly in the lymphoid tissues such as thymus, spleen and peripheral blood lymphocytes and also shows a significant expression in the spinal cord.

Background:

Molar Function:GTPase activator for the nuclear Ras-related regulatory proteins Rap1 and Rap2 in vitro, converting them to the putatively inactive GDP-bound state (PubMed:9346962). Affects cell cycle progression .

Western Blot: 

Stability: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Storage: Store at 4°C for frequent use. Stored at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer for one year without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
