Gene Full Name:transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 5

Gene Infomation:This gene is a member of the transient receptor family and the TrpV subfamily. The calcium-selective channel encoded by this gene has 6 transmembrane-spanning domains, multiple potential phosphorylation sites, an N-linked glycosylation site, and 5 ANK repeats. This protein forms homotetramers or heterotetramers and is activated by a low internal calcium level. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

Antigen:Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 1-325 of human TRPV5 (NP_062815.3).

Antigen Synonyms:Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 5

Tissue specificity:Expressed at high levels in kidney, small intestine and pancreas, and at lower levels in testis, prostate, placenta, brain, colon and rectum.

Storage:Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycles.

Buffer condition:PBS with 0.02% sodium azide, 50% glycerol, pH7.3.

Background:

Molar Function:Constitutively active calcium selective cation channel thought to be involved in Ca2+ reabsorption in kidney and intestine (PubMed:11549322, PubMed:18768590). Required for normal Ca2+ reabsorption in the kidney distal convoluted tubules . The channel is activated by low internal calcium level and the current exhibits an inward rectification (PubMed:11549322, PubMed:18768590). A Ca2+-dependent feedback regulation includes fast channel inactivation and slow current decay . Heteromeric assembly with TRPV6 seems to modify channel properties. TRPV5-TRPV6 heteromultimeric concatemers exhibit voltage-dependent gating .

Western Blot:

Stability: The thermal stability is described by the loss rate. The loss rate was determined by accelerated thermal degradation test, that is, incubate the protein at 37°C for 48h, and no obvious degradation and precipitation were observed. The loss rate is less than 5% within the expiration date under appropriate storage condition.

Storage: Store at 4°C for frequent use. Stored at -20°C in a manual defrost freezer for one year without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
