Background Discoidin, also known as DCBLD1, contains 1 CUB domain, 1 F5/8 type C domain and 1 LCCL domain. It is a 715 amino acid single-pass membrane protein. Discoidin has a discoidin I-like domain which shares a common C-terminal region of about 110 amino acids with the FA58C domain, but whose N-terminal 40 amino acids are much less conserved. Discoidin gene contains 31 distinct gt-ag introns. Transcription produces 18 different mRNAs, 16 alternatively spliced variants and 2 unspliced forms. Discoidin is expected to localize in various compartments.
